As we enter Scorpio Season, (October 23 – November 22) there are several lessons and themes that can be associated with the mysterious but powerful energy of Scorpio. This transformative energy can be felt and seen all around us. Amidst the vibrant colors of the dying leaves, I am reminded of the profound beauty that death can hold. Death can help remind us that change is an inherent part of life, everything has a natural life cycle – transitions and transformations are the constant.
Scorpio’s introspective energy encourages us to look within, taking stock of what should remain and what must be shed – the old habits, beliefs, and patterns that no longer serve us. It invites us to embrace a newfound authenticity, a rebirth of the self. One of the greatest thinkers of our time, Friedrich Nietzsche, the renowned German philosopher, had ideas to consider on the transformative power of embracing our own inner cycles of death and rebirth.
He proposed that one should become a self-creator – defining their own values and developing one’s identity, independent of societal expectations. The concept of self-creation challenges us to take control of our lives, beliefs, and values, and forge our own path towards self-realization. Granting ourself permission to allow old and outdated parts of ourself to die, despite the pain and struggles. When combining the potent energy of Scorpio and the wisdom of Nietzsche, this could be a powerful season in your life, a chance to reflect and reinvent yourself – I invite you to consider my interpretation of the self-creator process during introspection:
1. Self-Reflection: Reflect on your beliefs, values, and the influences that have shaped them. Identify what truly resonates with you and what you need to release.
2. Setting Personal Goals: Define your goals and aspirations. Create a vision for your future that aligns with your values.
3. Embrace Challenges: Nietzsche believed that challenges are opportunities for personal growth. Lean into adversity; confront it and use it as a tool for self-improvement.
4. Will to Power: Cultivate your inner strength and resilience. Focus on your strengths and passions, channeling your life force energy into meaningful pursuits.
5. Be Authentic: Stay true to your values and beliefs. Embrace the uniqueness of your individuality. Your tribe will always find you.
6. Self-Care: Understand the importance of self-care and self-compassion, and rest. Hustle culture teaches us that we sleep when we die, but taking care of your physical and mental well-being is crucial for personal growth. Its okay to slow down sometimes.
Nietzsche is known to use the term “Übermensch” or the “Overman” (Superman) which is said to describe an individual who appears super-human, possibly a little – enchanted – someone who transcends the limitations of normal conventional thinking. Question, create, and become the person you aspire to be—the Übermensch within you. By becoming the architect of your life, it is a superpower – let it guide you towards a life that is truly your own.
